Terrace

A covered terrace off a guest room, a low plaster wall at its edge, pale flagstone underfoot, and the far wall of the basin forty kilometres out under a bleached sky.

The room opens through a full-height gap onto its own terrace, roofed, open on three sides, with a low wall at the far edge to stop you walking off it in the dark. There is no glass anywhere in the opening. In August you will have opinions about that.

The far wall of the basin sits forty kilometres out and takes up about two degrees of the view. Everything between here and it is empty. It is the least photogenic room and the one the astronomers take.
